Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones--The Visual Dictionary by David West Reynolds
    Reading level: Ages 9-12

A thousand years from now, someone might find a dusty collection of DK's Star Wars titles buried in a library vault and wonder at the ancient strife, fashions, and droids of this unusual, unmarked era in history. For one who didn't know this was a series of film characters and situations being analyzed and explained, it would be an extremely believable history resource. For those who do know, it's a fantastic reference guide for all things Star Wars. David West Reynolds's impressive scientific writing style renders this "visual dictionary" a veritable bible of intergalactic information related to Attack of the Clones, the second prequel to the original Star Wars trilogy.

Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go by Richard Scarry Reading level: Ages 2 and older

Although this book was around when many of today's parents were youngsters, it has remained a steadfast must-have in every toddler's library. For starters, it's a great vocabulary guide that names the many things that go (and some that haven't a prayer of going, but are great fun to imagine anyway). It's also teeming with detail-rich scenes and characters on every page, teaching children the rewards of looking long and closely (such as finding the hidden "Goldbug" in each spread).

Merry Christmas, Teletubbies! by Andrew Davenport, Joan Ferrigno (Designer), Tim Jacobus (Illustrator)
    Reading level: Baby-Preschool

Like all good Anglicans, the Teletubbies aren't letting Christmas go unobserved. One day in the strange and wonderfully surreal place that is Teletubbyland, a beautiful Christmas tree pops into existence. And then--"Ping! Ping! Ping! Ping!"--four gifts magically appear on the tree. Hmmm... four presents, four Teletubbies--why, there must be one for Tinky Winky, one for Dipsy, one for Laa-Laa, and one for Po. Sure enough, the Tubbies shake each of their color-coordinated boxes with a "jingle, jangle" before opening them to see what they've received. Needless to say, trademark Tele-hilarity ensues.
