The rare original manuscripts for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, one of the best-loved childrens` stories of all time, will go up for auction this month.
The novel of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the flying car with a big personality was written by James Bond author Ian Fleming in 1961 as he recovered after a heart attack and is based on stories he used to tell his son.
It was originally written as three stories but published in 1964 under the name of Ian Lancaster as one, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was an instant success.
It was made into a classic children`s film in 1968 with Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes in the leading roles, and 34 years later it is a popular London stage musical.
The manuscripts of the three original adventures as well as sketches of the car are expected to fetch at least a whopping 12,000 pounds when they go under the hammer in London on December 12.
