Silver Seeds by Paolilli and Dan Brewer

Silver Seeds takes the reader on an outdoor journey of discovery as seen through the eyes young girl and boy. The journey begins when the morning sun 'nudges' the children to go out to play and ends at night when they 'gather their dreams and hold them tight' when they go to bed.

    USA - Buy Silver Seeds

Wonderful descriptions in a poetic format make this book a delight to read for both children and adults. Clouds are descibed as 'creamy scoops of ice cream' and fog as 'spun sugar'. A shadow becomes a 'silent friend' who draws a picture on the ground in black crayon.

Soft paintings done in bold muted colors and pastels by illustrators Steve Johnson and Lou Fanchor give a dreamy look to the book that fits the style of writing and the natural world as seen through the eyes and imagination of childhood. Children who have recently learned to read can enjoy this book alone or with an adult.

    Back to the awards.
