    These are the people who wiil be on the panel of the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize 2002.

    Julia Eccleshare (chair)
    A writer, broadcaster and lecturer, as well as children's books editor of the Guardian. In 2000, she was awarded the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her contribution to the world of children's books.

    Caroline Horn
    A freelance journalist and has been specialising in children's books for six years. She is children's books editor for The Bookseller magazine and regularly contributes comments and articles on children's book publishing to newspaper, radio and television programmes.

    Becky Jago
    You can currently see Becky on BBC1's award winning children's TV programme, Newsround. Other TV presenting credits include Channel 5's topical debate programme, The Wright Stuff, and Record of the Year in 1999 and 2000 with Denise Van Outen.

    Tony Ross
    Tony has become one of the best-know creators of original and tradition pictures and his work has been sold all over the world. Two of Tony's books have been shortlisted in previous Nestlé Smarties Book Prize competitions most notably I Want My Potty in 1994.

    Emily Smith
    Emily has been writing for children for over 10 years. Her published work includes poems and short stories. Her very first children's book, Astrid The Au Pair from Outer Space, won the 1999 Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Silver Medal in the 6 - 8 age group. Her next title for Young Corgi, The Shrimp, bettered that award in the 2000 Prize, scooping the Gold Medal in the 6 - 8 age group.
